I have been in classes since August 23... just over a month ago. It sure feels a lot longer! I'm taking two classes, plus a seminar: AIL 601 - Principles of Instructional Technology, AIL 606 - Software Technology. Both classes are going well. I've earned As on my assignments and I'm learning a great deal.
My biggest challenge has been time management. I'm sure that's true for all new students. Fortunately I have only minor demands outside of a full-time job, so it's doable. AIL 606 has kept me the busiest. It's strictly gaming technology. We are learning two programs (Scratch and Unix4). We are almost done with the Scratch book and will then start on Unix4. I will say that as much as I love learning new software, Scratch has been very difficult. I think I could handle it if we could slow down! But covering a chapter a week is a lot. And of course we have readings and discussions to do as well. I pretty much got lost a couple of chapters ago and now I'm just getting a overview and hoping I can get something out of this!
As for AIL 601... well, it's theory. It's not the most fun but it is interesting and important information to learn so I can apply the theory throughout my program. The pace is good and I enjoy the discussion with my cohorts.
Hoping next semester is not quite as demanding, but this IS graduate school. It's not suppose to be easy, is it?!
