First Semester - complete!

It's done! The first semester of my doctoral journey is complete. When I began the semester, I was nervous. Afraid I didn't have what it takes to be successful. And I can honestly say that it was a challenging semester! Both classes covered new territory for me. I took AIL 601 - the introduction to learning theories course. It was interesting, beneficial, and difficult. I also took AIL 606 - Gaming. That's not the official title, but that's what we covered. The class was very interesting to me since it's a topic I have followed for several years. I learned a great deal and plan to continue studying the use of games in education. 

The one thing that I enjoyed most in both classes was the discussions with my cohorts. I learned from all of them, got to know a bit of personal things about them, and also realized that they are equally nervous about the doctoral program, yet excited at the same time. I believe most of us will form a great friendship as we journey together over the next few years. 

On January 7, 2014, I will begin my 2nd semester. This time, I don't believe the classes will be quite as difficult... but I may be wrong. It appears from the first chapters of our textbooks that I'm more familiar with the topics and will be able to formalize my knowledge and apply it in practice exercises. I'm looking forward to it all!
